Walking past unbelief
Hebrews 3:12 + Romans 10:17 = We need the Word of God. There isn't a sin in the world that didn't find it's root in unbelief and that includes the original sin. And yet we will put up with and ignore unbelief above any other sin. If we were to go after and attack unbelief by faith in Christ and His Word I think we would be dealing with a lot less of everything else. My encouragement today to all of us is to spend time in the Word of God and prayer daily, and that we walk in the things we read. Remember the the demon possessed boys Father in Mark 9:24 who cried out to Jesus, "I do believe, help my unbelief!" Maybe like me you feel this way as you try to believe Jesus for the things He said that we could do through Him and by His authority. And how many times Jesus rebuked His own Disciples for their unbelief, not because He was trying to hurt them, but because He knew one day they would be His own Apostles representing His Word and His name on this Earth. He was growing them up in faith like a Father raises a son. Notice that the Bible doesn't record Jesus rebuking His Disciples for random sins? We don't hear Him rebuking them for greed, or gluttony, or not practicing the Sabbath correctly. But He rebuked them for their unbelief. I believe this is because Jesus knew that if they walked in faith believing His Word that they could overcome any sin and anything including satan himself. Remember Jesus defeating satan in the desert? It was by the Word of God accurately spoken against satan's twisting of God's Holy Word. I know as faith grows unbelief dies and as unbelief dies all of the garbage unbelief brings with it falls away because it is useless to a fire breathing believer. I encourage you to join with me in a decision to daily read the Words of Jesus Himself and then to cry out in prayer, "Lord I believe, help my unbelief!" And call on the Holy Spirit of the Living God to fill us with boldness and empower our faith. I think we will live in so much more victory if we by faith are believing His Word.
