Bible Mysteries - Who is Mechizedek?
This is a part one of a two part Bible study/teaching on the Biblical figure Melchizedek who we first find mention of in Genesis chapter 14. Melchizedek is a somewhat ambiguous character, who actually doesn't make a lot of sense from his description in Genesis. How could he be the King and Priest of Salem, when Salem didn't exist yet? Why does Abram pay him a tenth of all he had when there was no Priesthood given by God to His people until well over five hundred years later? What purpose did it serve for God to reveal this Priest and King in the Bible, since he was from a Priesthood not recognized through Abraham, and God only used Kings as leaders because the people demanded a King when there is only one King that God actually recognizes as being from His authority? Let's dive in and study this very important character from the Bible. There was a lot of tech issues with this video as I am learning a new set up, but were just going to keep going. Bible references:
Genesis 14:18-20 (we read the full chapter)
Psalm 110 (see a Psalm 27-9)
Matthew 22:41-46
